Having worked in the marketing and advertising industry in Singapore for over 15 years, I've seen it evolve substantially over time. Interestingly enough, I've assumed creative, marketing and client facing roles over the years in various digital agencies. Right now, I work as a digital marketer dealing in stuff like social media, search engine marketing etc. on a day to day basis.
The greatest shift in the industry was the move from traditional to digital marketing after the dot-com boom. In fact, technology has not only affected the way marketers reach out to people, but also how creatives do their work. From manually adjusting the kernings of characters in the 1990s' to having it fully automated via Adobe Creative Suite today, Singapore's marketing and advertising industry has seen a quantum leap forward in terms of technology.
I've started this blog for the benefit of would-be marketers, to give them an idea of what it's like out there. Over time, I'll be writing about specific workings within the agencies I've been in along with emerging trends in this fast evolving digital age.
